Rack Up: Word Game Scores

A scorekeeper for tile-based word games. It knows the rules, so you can stop doing the math.

Type the word, tap the tiles that landed on premium squares, and Rack Up does the arithmetic: letter and word multipliers, blank tiles, the fifty-point bonus for using all seven, several words in a single turn, and the leftover racks at the end of the game. A built-in word check runs against 168,000 words entirely offline, and it only ever advises. It flags a word, you decide, because the table makes the rulings, not the app.

The rules themselves are written out in the scoring guide: how the multipliers stack, what a blank tile is worth, when the fifty-point bonus counts, and how the tiles left on the racks settle the last score. It is the same set of rules the app applies, so it will settle an argument at the table whether or not you install anything.

Try it first, in your browser

There is a free browser version that plays a full game. It needs no install and no purchase, and it is the same scoring engine the paid app runs, so the numbers it gives you are the numbers the app gives you. It even keeps the game you are in the middle of, so closing the tab does not cost you the current game. What it does not keep is everything after that: no past games, no statistics, no head to head record. That is the honest difference between the two, and it is the reason the app costs money.

What it costs, and what that buys

One purchase of $2.99. No ads, no subscription, no account, and no tracking. Your games are stored on your device and nowhere else. Out of the box the app never touches the internet at all. Rack Up is $2.99 on the App Store for iPhone and iPad, and on Google Play for Android phones and tablets. On a tablet it is the same app using the wider screen, not a stretched phone.
