Privacy Policy

This policy explains how The Step handles your information. The Step is published by Up & Adam, LLC, operating as Up & Adam Studios (“we,” “us,” or “Up & Adam Studios”), based in Columbus, Ohio. The Step is a decision-support app that supports adults with ADHD and other neurodivergent adults. It is not a medical app (see our Terms of Service). Because the app supports a community whose information deserves extra care, it has this dedicated policy rather than our general Studios policy.

The short version. The Step runs entirely on your device. There is no account and no sign-up. The app does not send your information to us or to anyone else, it shows no ads, and it uses no advertising or analytics trackers. Whatever you do in the app stays on your phone, under your control.

What information the app handles

As you use The Step, the app works with a few kinds of information, all of it stored only on your device:

• Your choices in the app, such as which options you pick or pass on, and the kind of “stuck” you tell it you are feeling.
• Your commitments, the “when this, I’ll do that” steps you write in your own words.
• An optional profile, a few skippable questions that tune the app to how you like to decide. The app works fully without it.
• Optional notes or check-ins, if you choose to use those features.

Some of this can reveal information about your mental health or your neurodivergence. We treat that information as sensitive. How it is handled under consumer health data laws is covered in our separate Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy.

Where your information lives

Everything above is stored on your device, with sensitive items encrypted on the device. We cannot see it, we do not receive a copy, and we do not share or sell it. If you delete the app, that information is removed with it. If you want a backup, use your device’s own backup feature.

No accounts, no ads, no tracking

The Step has no login and no account. It contains no advertising software and no analytics software that identifies you. We do not use tools like advertising pixels or third-party analytics that quietly send your activity elsewhere. This is a deliberate design choice.

Payments and subscriptions

The Step may offer an optional paid subscription. Purchases are handled by Google Play, not by us. Google processes your payment and we never receive or store your card details. Google’s handling of purchase information is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy. See our Terms for subscription and cancellation details.

A possible future AI feature (not available now)

The Step does not use any cloud AI today. The whole app runs on your device. We may later add an optional feature that uses a third-party AI provider to help with a few open-ended tasks. If we do, it will be strictly opt-in, it will name the provider and the exact information sent, it will send only what that single request needs, and it will show a clear “you are using AI” notice while it is on. We will update this policy and ask for your separate consent before that feature is ever turned on.

Your choices and rights

Because your information lives on your device, you are in control. You can edit or delete your entries in the app, and you can remove everything by deleting the app. You can email us at adam@upandadamco.com with any privacy question or request, and we will respond within 30 days.

EU and UK residents. Where data-protection law applies to you, the legal basis for the app handling the information above is your consent, given when you choose to enter it. Because the information is processed on your device and is not transmitted to us, our processing is minimal. You have the right to access, correct, and delete your information, all of which you can do on your device, and you can contact us with any concern.

California, Washington, Nevada, and Connecticut residents. We do not sell or share your personal information, and the app does not send it to third parties. You have the right to access and delete your information. For information that may relate to your health, see the Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy, which is provided separately as those laws require.

Age

The Step is for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly handle information from anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date at the top. For a material change, such as adding the optional AI feature described above, we will make the change clear before it takes effect.
